Five laser startups raise fresh funding — is the sector at a tipping point?

July heat wave hits the laser communications sector.

 

Recently, five emerging players—Beacomm Technologies, Remo-Telight, Xingchen Optoelectronics, LaserPosts, and Laserlink—have disclosed new funding rounds in quick succession, with individual deal sizes ranging from tens of millions to hundreds of millions of yuan.

With satellite internet entering the fast lane, laser technology as the core of satellite-to-ground and inter-satellite communications has become a strategic battleground. More capital is expected to pour into this hundred-billion-yuan “space highway” track.

 

Beacomm Technologies: Three Funding Rounds in a Year

On July 30, Beacomm Technologies (Huzhou) Co., Ltd. announced it had completed a new funding round in the tens of millions of yuan, led by Yonghua Investment with participation from five other investors including Ziyan Jincheng and Shunchuang Industrial Investment. This marks its third financing in about a year, with proceeds earmarked for mass delivery of spaceborne laser communication terminals and production capacity upgrades.

 

Founded in 2021, Beacomm Technologies traces its technology to a top national aerospace research team, with core members who participated in China's first satellite-to-ground laser communication experiment. The company has built a full-scenario laser communication product portfolio covering inter-satellite, satellite-to-ground and air-to-ground links, with annual production capacity exceeding 100 units.

 

In April, its self-developed 400 Gbps ultra-high-speed inter-satellite laser communication payload passed review and was delivered in July. It is scheduled to launch aboard an experimental satellite in September. This "inter-satellite computing bus" will provide key technical support for distributed on-orbit computing coordination.

More notably, the first-phase production line with a total investment of

RMB 20 million began construction in April. once operational, it will achieve annual production capacity of 300 laser communication terminals, with full-process traceability in manufacturing, real-time material monitoring, and AI-assisted semi-automated testing that significantly improves efficiency.

 

Remo-Telight: Nine-Figure Funding to Sprint Toward Mass Production

On July 28, Remo-Telight (Changzhou) Technology Co., Ltd. announced it had completed a strategic financing round of several hundred million yuan, led by Jinpu Intelligence, with participation from Dongwu Innovation Capital, Zhongxing Capital and other investors.

 

Founded in December 2022, Remo-Telight is the sole industrialization platform for the laser communication and spaceborne infrared optoelectronic payload core technologies developed by the team of Academician Wang Jianyu of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Academician Wang has led multiple major national projects, including the laser altimeter for the Chang'e-1 lunar mission and the Micius quantum science experimental satellite. The company's core products span three major areas: space laser communication terminals, spaceborne infrared remote sensing imaging equipment, and aerospace-grade general components and assemblies.

 

In July 2026, the company's self-developed inter-orbit inter-satellite laser communication payload successfully established long-distance cross-constellation laser links in orbit, marking China's first laser link communication between satellites from different constellations, different orbits, and different manufacturers.

 

The new funding will be directed primarily toward core technology iteration and intelligent production line upgrades, supporting large-scale mass production and domestic substitution of key components for commercial aerospace.

 

Xingchen Optoelectronics: Pre-A Funding Accelerates

On July 29, Xingchen Optoelectronics Technology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., a maker of inter-satellite laser communication payloads, announced the completion of a Pre-A funding round jointly led by Yinlian Capital, Zhongnan Venture Capital and Beihang Investment. The company previously closed an angel round in September 2024 and a Pre-A round worth tens of millions of yuan in May 2025.

 

Founded in 2022 and headquartered in Suzhou Industrial Park, Xingchen Optoelectronics was among the first in the industry to introduce wavefront modulation and all-solid-state communication payload solutions. By leveraging its self-developed space-grade spatial light modulator, the company achieves non-mechanical ultra-high-precision beam steering with short link acquisition time and strong disturbance resistance.

According to the company, its all-optical switching and relay technology for inter-satellite networks is unique in China and has been designated as a core solution for future constellation networking by national projects such as China Satellite Network. Each satellite can support networking with 18 to 20 satellites, boosting communication capacity tenfold. Compared with traditional products, its terminals are 50% lighter, 70% smaller, and 30% lower in payload cost.

 

LaserPosts: Two Funding Rounds in a Row

On July 16, Beijing LaserPosts Technology Co., Ltd. announced it had completed consecutive Pre-A and Pre-A+ funding rounds, with investors including Yuanqi Capital and Jiuhe Venture Capital.

 

Founded in 2024, this hard-tech company draws on nearly two decades of research at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, focusing on high-speed satellite-to-ground laser communications. It is tackling one of the field’s world-class challenges: mitigating the impact of atmospheric turbulence on space laser links.

In December 2024, the company worked with Chang Guang Satellite to complete a 100 Gbps ultra-high-speed remote sensing image transmission experiment, with a single-pass transmission volume exceeding 10 terabits.

 

Currently, the company’s MDR-based end-to-end solution supports single-channel 200 Gbps transmission. Positioned as the world’s first commercial-oriented high-speed satellite-to-ground laser communication equipment, it is accelerating the construction of an integrated space-air-ground network.

 

Laserlink Secures Series C+ Funding

On June 17, Laserlink (Shanghai) Aerospace Technology Co., Ltd. completed a Series C+ round in the tens of millions of yuan, led exclusively by Yongxin Fangzhou. The company previously closed a Series C round of nearly RMB 500 million in 2025.

 

Founded in 2021, Laserlink is led by founder Yan Zhixin, who joined the Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2006 and has since undertaken more than 20 major national space missions.

The company is headquartered in Shanghai as its R&D center, with additional R&D centers in Beijing and Chengdu, and a mass production incubation base in Changshu. It operates nearly 20,000 square meters of R&D and production space with a team of over 300. On the funding front, Laserlink has completed the full spectrum of financing from Pre-A through C+ rounds, with shareholders including dozens of leading institutions such as China Reform Fund, Shenzhen Capital Group and Yuekai Capital.

 

The sustained closing of multiple funding rounds reflects both long-term confidence in the domestic substitution track for space laser communications and strong recognition of the company’s full-chain independent R&D and engineering mass production capabilities.
