On February 4, Hesai Group (NASDAQ: HSAI; HKEX: 2525), a global leader in lidar technology, announced a strategic partnership with Grab (NASDAQ: GRAB), a leading technology company in Southeast Asia.Under the agreement, Grab will serve as the exclusive distributor of Hesai’s lidar products across Southeast Asia, with full responsibility for product sales, customer support, and marketing in the region.
Through this strategic cooperation, Hesai will leverage Grab’s extensive resources and established sales network to significantly enhance the market supply capacity of its high-performance, high-reliability lidar sensors. This will enable customers in Southeast Asia to access Hesai’s lidar products more conveniently and efficiently, meeting diverse industry application needs including robotic solutions and autonomous driving systems.Meanwhile, as Hesai’s exclusive distributor in the region, Grab will secure a stable and reliable technology supply for its autonomous mobility and high-definition map businesses.
In its report Data Centers and AI Infrastructure in Southeast Asia: Seizing a Once-in-a-Generation Opportunity, Deloitte Southeast Asia projected that demand for AI-driven automation across the region will surge at an unprecedented rate, particularly in manufacturing, transportation, and logistics.Accordingly, lidar adoption is expected to transition from early validation to large-scale commercial deployment throughout Southeast Asia.
Through this collaboration, Hesai and Grab will jointly advance the development of physical AI and embodied intelligence in Southeast Asia. The two parties will support industries across the region in accessing this critical foundational hardware technology, enabling intelligent devices to move beyond the limits of digital intelligence and achieve safe, reliable, and embodied operations in Southeast Asia’s complex urban environments.

Anthony Tan, Co-Founder and CEO of Grab Group, stated:“By bringing world-leading LiDAR technology to Southeast Asia through this partnership, Grab will not only strengthen our own capabilities in autonomous mobility and high-definition mapping. More importantly, we are equipping robots with the 'intelligent eyes' to perceive the world, allowing them to see and navigate safely. This will drive the widespread adoption and large-scale deployment of 3D perception intelligence across industries in Southeast Asia.”
Li Yifan, Co-Founder and CEO of Hesai, said:“LiDAR is a core technology enabling autonomous perception and safe operation for robots. The Southeast Asian market currently shows strong demand in manufacturing, logistics, service robots, and other sectors.Through our partnership with Grab, we will bring mature and reliable LiDAR technology to meet local market needs, accelerating the deployment and large-scale application of LiDAR in robotic solutions.”
To meet the growing demand for LiDAR, Hesai has raised its planned annual production capacity from 2 million units in 2025 to 4 million units in 2026, doubling its output. In addition, construction of Hesai's new “Galileo” factory in Bangkok, Thailand, is progressing steadily, with production expected to start in early 2027.The Galileo factory will further strengthen Hesai's global production footprint and strongly support its future business growth.
