In May 2026, China's laser industry ushered in an electrifying moment, with five major projects breaking ground and launching in just 10 days.
Among them, Wuhan MindSemi Semiconductor invested a hefty 1.5 billion yuan to break ground on its new semiconductor base; Han's Laser Intelligent Equipment Group unveiled its upgraded new base in Shenzhen; the two intelligent manufacturing bases of FiberSight and Allwave Lasers went into production on the same day; and Dianjin Laser headed south to sign a cooperation agreement in Shaoguan with its cutting-edge technologies.
An analysis shows that these five key laser projects cover multiple core sectors including semiconductor lasers, optical components, laser remanufacturing and intelligent equipment. Distributed across Wuhan, Shenzhen, Zhejiang, Shaoguan and other regions, they demonstrate a strong momentum of multi-point expansion and full-industry-chain layout.
Wuhan MindSemi: 1.5 Billion Yuan Optical Chip base Breaks Ground in Wuhan
On May 15, Wuhan MindSemi Semiconductor Co., Ltd. held a groundbreaking ceremony for its R&D and production base in the Future Science and Technology City. With a total investment of nearly 1.5 billion yuan and a total construction area of approximately 67,000 square meters, the project integrates modern production workshops, high-end R&D centers and headquarters offices into one complex.
Located in the core area of the Future Science and Technology City, the new base will be built in accordance with the high-standard modern industrial park model to meet the stringent requirements for R&D and production of high-end semiconductor chips. It is expected to become an intelligent and intensive benchmark for the semiconductor industry in the future.
According to public information, MindSemi Semiconductor was founded in December 2017 and specializes in the full series of 2.5G/10G/25G laser and detector optical chips as well as packaged products.
According to the plan, the base will be fully completed in July 2027, and equipment commissioning and official operation will be completed by the end of September of the same year, focusing on the R&D and production of silicon photonics light source chips.
FiberSight: Production base in Xinzhou Aerospace City Commences Operations
On May 6, Wuhan FiberSight Optical Technology Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Wuhan FiberSight Optoelectronic Technology Co., Ltd., held a production launch ceremony for its manufacturing base in the Aerospace Industrial Park, Shuangliu Sub-district, Xinzhou District, Wuhan.
The Xinzhou base serves as a key carrier for FiberSight's large-scale production layout of optical materials and components. It will be built into a comprehensive platform integrating R&D and pilot testing, mass production, and testing and verification.
Notably, FiberSight simultaneously completed team integration by relocating its entire Xiantao production team to Xinzhou, providing solid talent support for the base's rapid operation. Leveraging the new base, the company's annual sales revenue is expected to exceed 20 million yuan.
Going forward, the company will take root in Xinzhou Aerospace City, implement Wuhan's "Star-Light linkage" development concept, promote the deep integration of optoelectronics and aerospace industries, and contribute to the high-quality development of the regional optoelectronic information industry cluster.
Dianjin Laser: Signs Agreement to Settle in Shaoguan
On May 15, Shaoguan High-Tech Industrial Development Zone signed an agreement with Wuhan Dianjin Laser Technology Co., Ltd., marking the official settlement of this national high-tech enterprise deeply engaged in laser manufacturing and remanufacturing in Shaoguan.
Founded in 2012, Dianjin Laser's team has over 10 years of in-depth experience in the laser remanufacturing field and holds more than 50 nationally authorized patents. Its core business can be summarized as "performing surgery on industrial equipment": through technologies such as laser cladding, quenching and alloying, it realizes the repair and surface performance enhancement of large vulnerable components including metallurgical rolls, hydraulic cylinder columns and molds, establishing a three-in-one business system of "equipment + services + materials".
This settlement in Shaoguan will promote the commercialization and transformation of the award-winning project's scientific and technological achievements in northern Guangdong, injecting new momentum for the green circular economy into the regional advanced equipment manufacturing and metallurgical industrial clusters.
Allwave Lasers: Intelligent Manufacturing base Commences Production
On May 6, the ALLWAVE Intelligent Manufacturing base of Zhejiang Allwave Lasers Photonics Devices Inc. was officially put into production and operation. This modern intelligent manufacturing park, with a total construction area of 102,000 square meters, serves as the core carrier for the company to implement its vertically integrated manufacturing model.
The base focuses on the demands of telecommunications networks and AI computing power data centers, with a key layout in high-end communication laser devices and optical transceiver modules. When fully operational, it will achieve an annual output value of 600 million yuan and is expected to drive an industrial chain scale of 30 billion yuan. Its products are widely used in cutting-edge fields such as optical fiber communications and quantum computing.
Relying on the technical resources of the Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (XIOPM), Allwave Lasers has established a high-level R&D team and achieved domestic substitution of multiple key processes.
With its outstanding product quality, Allwave Lasers has established stable cooperative relationships with leading domestic and foreign enterprises such as Huawei and ZTE. Its products cover core tracks including high-speed optical modules for data centers, further improving the domestic industrial chain layout of high-end laser devices.
Han's Laser: Unveils Upgraded Equipment base
On May 11, Han's Laser Intelligent Equipment Group officially unveiled its upgraded Xinhe production base in Shenzhen.
According to reports, the base covers an area of 14,000 square meters and is divided into production, warehousing and office areas based on standardized and modular concepts. It focuses on the R&D and manufacturing of medium and high-power laser cutting machines, laser tube cutting machines and other equipment, with an annual comprehensive production capacity of over 2,000 units.
The opening of the new base will further improve the operational efficiency of Han's Laser's general flat cutting and tube cutting product lines, and enhance its radiation capacity for the South China market and overseas business. It is also another key move for Han's Laser to optimize its industrial layout, stay close to the market and respond quickly to customer needs.
Relying on standardized production processes and a full-process quality control system, Han's Laser will continue to provide faster and more stable laser equipment solutions to customers worldwide.
