Jenoptik has acquired 100% of the shares in Otto Vision Technology and Ovitec (all in Jena, Germany), both of which specialize in optical 2D and 3D inspection systems for quality assurance and process optimization. With the acquisition, Jenoptik is expanding its position as a systems provider of production metrology and industrial image processing applications.

Otto Vision Technology and Ovitec, sister companies of one another, also specialize in complex imaging systems for applications in part dimensioning, surface inspection, and position detection. Their main customers come primarily from the automotive, stamping, and glass industries, as well as from the machine and equipment engineering sector. Both companies together employ 32 personnel, with forecast revenue for fiscal-year 2018 around 8 million euros.

Reinhard and Gunter Otto, brothers and founders of the two companies, will continue to work as managing directors.
