Jiangmen, China, September 22, 2017, 一 The first laser cleaning technical seminar was smoothly held in Guangdong Zhuxi International Exhibition Center. Since the second half of 2016, laser cleaning has been a hot topic in China’s laser industry. Aiming at “leading the development of the industry and technology to a right direction”, <Laser Manufacture News> then held the “ALAT 2017 Laser Cleaning Application Conference” in Jiangmen City.

 “Where the laser touches, the rust vanishes”. The magical touch of the laser to erase the rust is absolutely amazing. The development in this area is completely blank not long ago. A novelty technology with such a great potential would certainly gain lots of attention, just like 3D printing did back in a few years.

Companies and institutes from Netherland and Germany have practiced laser cleaning for over a decade. While the Europe is leading the charge in the field of laser cleaning, the early stage of using laser cleaning in China was initiated by the China Academy of Engineering Physics in 2011, with the purpose of relics renovating and fouling cleaning. As people start to realize the potential of high-frequency impulse fiber laser in laser cleaning, equipment suppliers like IPG, Maxphotonics, Wuhan Raycus, and FHB photonics have been making endeavor to develop the fiber lasers that suit laser cleaning, and the equipment integrators such as HERO-LASER, Hejun Laser, and HAN’S GROUP have introduced their laser cleaning machines, one after another, in addition to other kinds of lasers suppliers like ZKSX laser, Power laser, and GK laser, they too have introduced suitable light source for laser cleaning. So far from now, there are more than 30 laser-cleaning-related domestic companies in China.

Compared to laser cutting, laser welding, and laser cladding, all of which are required to interact with the desired materials using high energy, laser cleaning just simply erases the stain on the surface of the object without making impacts to it. Due to the diversity of materials and the difference of stain thickness, the laser power and wavelength will be adapted accordingly, hence there is much to be developed in this field. Before this conference, there has not been any conference that exclusively focuses on laser cleaning neither in China nor anywhere in the world, and the Laser Manufacture News is the first one who has pulled it off.
