Emcore Appoints Vice Presidents of Sales, Operations

 Fiber communications firm Emcore Corp. has named David Wojciechowski vice president of sales and Shane Mortazavi vice president of operations. 

Wojciechowski has 20 year of sales experience in the optical communications, semiconductor and renewable energy industries. From 1986 to 1989, and from 2001 to 2009, Wojciechowski was director of global sales for Emcore Broadband, wher he was responsible for sales strategy and market development in North America and China for products, including 1310- and 1550-nm transmitters, laser modules, satellite communications RF links, video transport and fiber products. 

Most recently he was vice president of global and American sales for Maxwell Technologies Inc. of San Diego. Prior to that, he was vice president for renewable energy sales in North America for Power-One Inc. of Camarillo, Calif., which was acquired in 2013 by ABB Ltd. of Switzerland, and vice president of sales for SMA America LLC of Rocklin, Calif., a subsidiary of SMA Solar Technology AG of Germany. 

Mortazavi has more than 25 years of leadership in manufacturing operations and supply chain management for leading global technology firms with operations and profit-and-loss responsibility in the electronics, aerospace, automotive, oil and gas, and telecommunications industries. 

From 2000 to 2013 he was vice president of operations for STec Inc., a developer of solid-state drives, flash and DRAM memory for telecommunications, storage, military and medical systems. Prior to that, he served as manufacturing operations manager for General Monitors Inc., a developer of electronic UV and IR instrumentation and safety systems for the oil and gas industry. 

Emcore offers compound semiconductor-based products for the broadband and specialty fiber optics market, including optical components, subsystems and systems for cable television and fiber-to-the-premise (FTTP) networks, as well as products for satellite communications, video transport and specialty photonics technologies for defense and homeland security applications.
