Especially in the construction of automated microscope systems for quality control or the screening of biological samples, costs of subsystems play a significant role. With the mechanical stage M 971, Physik Instrumente (PI) provides an alternative.

PI now offers manufacturers of automated microscope systems for material testing, inspection or biotechnology an inexpensive XY table, which is characterized by particularly high stability. On the one hand, its design is largely standardized in order to save costs, but still offers the possibility of customer-specific adaptations such as flexible travel ranges or versions with apertures. Tried and tested stepper motors and spindles already serve as a drive. The design of the guides which includes several short crossed roller guides distributes the load evenly over a large surface and ensures high stiffness and good travel accuracy. Reference and limit switches facilitate a fast startup and a safe use. The C-663 Mercury Controller or standard stepper motor controls can be used to control the stage.
For microscopy, PI not only offers XY stages but also focusing units, fast scanners for tracking applications, or sample scanners with six degrees of freedom and positioning accuracies in the range of single nanometers, for example for atomic force microscopy.
about PI
Well known for the high quality of its products, PI (Physik Instrumente) has been one of the leading players in the global market for precision positioning technology for many years. PI has been developing and manufacturing standard and OEM products with piezo or motor drives for 40 years. By acquiring the majority shares in ACS Motion Control, a worldwide leading developer and manufacturer of modular motion controllers for multi-axis and high-precision drive systems, PI has made a major step forward in providing complete systems for industrial applications with the highest demand on precision and dynamics. In addition to four locations in Germany, the PI Group is represented internationally by fifteen sales and service subsidiaries.
